The population here is densely scattered, if
that makes sense. Beautiful green spaces
are punctuated by frequent villages and
towns--civilization is never more than
walking distance in any direction.
Today we rode bikes to Caslav to
beat the heat in the sweet pool
there. In the fields, the corn is
head high and a big thresher
was harvesting wheat. Sarah
bought me a bathing suit to
save people from uninvited
intimacy with my anatomy;
till now I had only clingy
grey shorts to swim in.
We had some beers
poolside. Even with
no lifeguards, few
alcohol rules, and
topless bathing,
society doesn't
tumble into
chaos.
