A roomful of scientists
is assembling circuit boards in preparation for future launch--a special
spherical chip of map tacks is made to pin commemorative ideas to a bulletin
board.
While I sit atop the shuttle, elsewhere a ferry is locked in treacherous
ice just a few feet from shore. A man falls through but the rescuer makes
no attempt to save him -- he's more concerned with wooing the roomful
of women, some of whom decide to stay aboard. In the shuttle cabin everything
is turning blue due to "cryogenic trickle." The launch tower is an 11-story
hotel where a bellhop sneaks down a rickety back staircase because he wants
to keep the change. |
