This is a crude and kludgy interface but if you're patient the result might be worthwhile for your ears. Below is an array of live audio streams from around the world--Times Square, Hamptons ocean beach, PNW whale hydrophone, radio scanners in the Seattle area, and nature preserves in Texas and Costa Rica. By carefully scrolling you can click play on the top four horizontal bands; the blue Orca bar and below should autoplay. For the scanners, I suggest SeaTac airport and the Seattle Fire/Police channel, though you'll want to turn the volume down on those. I created this as an homage to John Cage's Variations VII, performed at 9 Evenings in 1966. Then, it took a team of engineers. Tonight I'll incorporate this realtime collage into my DJ set at the 9e2 opening event in Seattle, easy as pi.
