today we made eye contact
with an eagle. nice day for
a walk along north shore rd,
the glassy channel reflected
the sky, infinity times two.
we saw it alight in the tree
from a distance, far ahead
with its back to us. so quiet
our faint footfalls alerted it
to our presence, it swiveled
its head and gave us some
stinkeye but was otherwise
unperturbed. then an ATV
came by and set it to flight.
on the way back home, our
neighbor terri asked if we'd
seen Rodney, a local feral cat
she'd been feeding. the fear
is something got him--owl,
raccoon, coyote are all likely
contenders. it might've even
been this selfsame eagle. 😿 		spacer
