high school track and
college crew instilled in me a certain running
style--go hard, never stop. my attitude has
changed since then. now my only rule is "follow
your breath." i don't set pace by a watch, plan
my route, or measure distance. i just sort of
pick a direction and trot, usually to and
through a park. i wasn't tired today but i
paused twice: once to stretch, the other to lie
in the grass and bask in the sun. i could push
myself harder but why bother? i'm not trying to
beat the clock or get somewhere. no need to
rush--i'm already here! |
