tonight lynn and i chanced upon the local czechoslovak society (73rd b/t 1st and 2nd) where ten or so people played 2 guitars and sang old czech songs as well as pink floyd, john denver, and the doors. after that it was off to nimrod (70th b/t york and 1st), a german-czech restaurant with a very friendly and funny crowd. a blonde chanteuse banged on an upright piano wailing the blues then slipped into an accordion and serenaded us with edith piaf in the close smoky room. je ne regrette rien.

czech, please
