Andrei Codrescu brought down the house with his take on the garden of eden myth--no mean feat when you consider central park leaves were our ceiling and the starry heavens themselves were our steeple. Codrescu's thesis: Adam and Eve "sinned," and boy was God ever pissed! But instead of kicking them out, as the story goes, God Himself left in disgust to go off and try again somewhere else, leaving the blushing couple and their descendents (us!) in Paradise. And that old bogeyman is never coming back! |
