Trees are
like money
and air--you don't notice
them 'til they're gone.
Wind
storms overnight, woke to learn
big tree out front split near
base, half
fell over onto young Maple and powerline
which continue to hold it up, Maple bent over
and cable-reinforced powerline pulled taut; other
half still upright in background behind Miso's butt.
The whole thing's gotta go. Sarah and I laid hands on its trunk
to let it know we care. It's like losing a friend you didn't know was there. |
