| Sarah is between jobs and I worked half a day, so we took the
crisp autumnal afternoon to indulge some civic-minded activities. First,
we went to Fremont Baptist Church and voted in local elections. This meant
filling in circles on a paper ballot and then selecting some baked goods
from a table near the exit. What a country--freedom of choice and chocolate
chip cookies! Then we went to the library. Boy, there sure do seem to be
a lot of stinker books out there.
Our branch is quite small and I didn't see anything worth
reading, except maybe
Mad
Magazine, which has changed a lot since I read it as a kid. It's slick
and colorful now with a lot of ads. What kind of person creates ads to influence
children? Seems pretty dirty to me.... |
