The problems of the world seem
insoluble.
There is no one prescriptive solution.
The best we can do is make individual choices consistent with our values.
(But to do that, first, you need
values.) After
driving, one of the
most polluting
and resource-intensive "activities" is eating meat. Cruelty and
unhealthiness
aside,
animal
harvesting wastes water, fuel, and produces tons of toxic waste.
So I go
vegan, but
even that has its pitfalls. Just look at this plastic wrap, the
byproduct of just one "cruelty-free" meal. Well, I guess the problem of
packaging
results from reliance on processed food of any sort. If I were to walk the
walk, I'd
eat more bulk foods, think ahead and prepare my lunch. I've got a long way
to go. |
