pet a cat, watch the ants.
i'm afraid the cats won't make it
but maybe they'll last a little longer than
us...
until the rats get 'em—quicker breeders
and good cooperators (just like man).
but i have my doubts even about the rats--
too much of their survival bound
to the excesses of civilization.
after they're gone it's gonna be all ants,
and a million generations
down the line maybe they'll evolve
enough intelligence to extinct themselves
...and everything else. |
